1. principle

Y-type filter is an indispensable filtering device in the pipeline system for conveying fluid media.

Y-type filters are usually installed at the inlet end of pressure reducing valves, pressure relief valves, stop valves (such as the water inlet end of indoor heating pipes) or other equipment to remove impurities in the medium to protect the normal use of valves and equipment.

The Y-type filter has an advanced structure, small resistance and convenient sewage discharge.

The Y-type filter is mainly composed of a pipe, a main pipe, a filter screen, a flange, a flange cover and fasteners. When the liquid enters the filter basket through the main pipe , the solid impurity particles are blocked in the filter basket , and the clean fluid passes through the filter basket and is discharged from the filter outlet. The filter screen is made into a cylindrical filter basket shape to increase its strength, which is stronger than a single-layer mesh . The flange cover at the bottom of the Y-shaped interface can be unscrewed to regularly remove the particle impurities deposited in the filter basket .

2. Installation Method

Before installing the filter, carefully clean all the threaded connection surfaces of the pipes, and use pipe sealant or Teflon tape (polytetrafluoroethylene) in moderation. The end threads are not processed to prevent the sealant or Teflon tape from entering the pipe system. The filter can be installed horizontally or vertically downward.

3. Installation Steps

  • 1. Before installation, be sure to open the plastic packaging of the product within the clean room;
  • 2. Hold the outer frame of the filter with both hands during transportation;
  • 3. At least two people are required to install a larger filter;
  • 4. Do not support the middle part of the filter with your hands;
  • 5. Do not touch the materials inside the filter;
  • 6. Do not use a knife to cut open the outer packaging of the filter;
  • 7. Be careful not to twist the filter when carrying it;
  • 8. Protect the filter's sealing gasket to avoid collision with other objects.

installing socket weld filters 1-1/4 ” (DN32) or larger or all D series filters, be aware that the gaskets of these filters are non-metallic and can be damaged by overheating. Therefore, the welding time should be shortened and the filter should be cooled after welding. If preheating is required before welding or continued heating is required after welding (D series filters), it is recommended to remove the gasket before heating.

4. Operation and Maintenance

After the system has been working for a period of time (usually no more than one week), it should be cleaned to remove the impurities and dirt accumulated on the filter screen during the initial operation of the system . After that, it must be cleaned regularly. The number of cleanings depends on the working conditions. If the filter does not have a drain plug, the filter limiter and filter screen must be removed when cleaning the filter.

5. Considerations

Before each maintenance and cleaning, the filter should be isolated from the pressurized system. After cleaning, a new gasket should be used when reinstalling.

Before installing the filter, carefully clean all the threaded connection surfaces of the pipes and use pipe sealant or Teflon tape (polytetrafluoroethylene) in moderation. Leave the end threads untreated to prevent sealant or Teflon tape from entering the pipe system. The filter can be installed horizontally or vertically downward. When installing 1-1/4 ” (DN32) or larger socket welding filters or all D series filters, it should be noted that the gaskets of such filters are non-metallic and easily damaged by overheating. Therefore, the welding time should be shortened and the filter should be cooled after welding. If preheating is required before welding or continued heating is required after welding (D series filters), it is recommended to remove the gasket before heating.

The Y-type filter is a small device for removing a small amount of solid particles from liquids, which can protect the normal operation of the equipment. When the fluid enters the filter cartridge with a filter screen of a certain specification, its impurities are blocked, and the clean filtrate is discharged from the filter outlet. When cleaning is required, just take out the detachable filter cartridge, process it and reinstall it. Therefore, it is extremely convenient to use and maintain.
